Kenyan political parties United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are set to hold their first joint parliamentary group meeting, aimed at solidifying their political alliance following a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The meeting, to be hosted by President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, seeks to address internal divisions within ODM and strengthen cooperation between the two parties. Political analysts describe the joint parliamentary group as a mechanism to maintain unity between UDA and ODM. Meanwhile, tensions persist within Kenya's political landscape, with Moses Kuria, a former Cabinet Secretary, criticizing former Majority Leader Aden Duale for promoting divisive ethnic narratives. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also faced rejection from Mt Kenya region leaders, including Deputy President Kindiki, who accused Gachagua of lacking alternative policies and attempting to destabilize the government. Kindiki emphasized that power cannot be attained through violence. Additionally, the Kenya Moja bloc is positioning itself as a potential disruptor of the current political order ahead of the 2027 elections.
