Alibaba has launched Qwen-Image-Edit, an advanced open-source image editing model built on its 20 billion parameter Qwen-Image architecture. This model supports precise bilingual text editing in Chinese and English while preserving font style and appearance. It offers both semantic and appearance-level editing capabilities, including features like rotating, restyling, and adding or removing image elements with high precision. Qwen-Image-Edit is available on multiple platforms such as Anycoder, Replicate, and Qwen Chat, with usage priced at $0.03 per edit. Licensed under Apache 2.0, it enables local and online editing and has been praised for its ability to perform delicate modifications, such as removing a single strand of hair, without compromising image quality. Industry observers have noted that Qwen-Image-Edit rivals established tools like Adobe Photoshop and popular AI models like Midjourney and DALL-E. Meanwhile, Google has confirmed that its own AI image editing model, dubbed "nano-banana," is officially from Google DeepMind. The nano-banana model is anticipated to be a powerful competitor in the AI image editing space, with a formal release expected soon. Separately, Google’s AI filmmaking tool Flow has reached a milestone of 100 million videos created since its launch in May 2025, highlighting continued advancements in AI-driven creative technologies.
