Anthropic has launched a new Voice Mode for its Claude AI assistant, now available in beta on both iOS and Android mobile apps. The feature allows users to have natural spoken conversations with Claude, switching seamlessly between text and voice within the same chat session. Voice Mode is currently available in English and offers five distinct voice options for users to personalize their experience. Real-time transcription is displayed during conversations, and all spoken messages are saved in the chat history as text. Free users can send 20 to 30 voice messages per month, while paid subscribers receive higher usage limits and access to advanced integrations. For paid plans, Claude integrates with Google Workspace, allowing users to access Google Calendar, Gmail, and Docs through voice commands. The rollout of Voice Mode comes alongside the release of the Claude 4 model family, including Opus 4 and Sonnet 4, which have demonstrated significant improvements in coding and reasoning capabilities. The voice assistant is now available on both Android and iOS. Anthropic recommends using Voice Mode in quiet environments for optimal recognition and notes that the feature is especially useful for hands-free scenarios such as daily planning, brainstorming, and creative tasks. The company plans to expand language support and features in future updates.
