The Model Context Protocol (MCP) has emerged as a new open standard enabling AI models to interact seamlessly with external data sources and tools, facilitating real-time, two-way communication. Major technology companies including Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, Amazon, and Meta have adopted MCP across various platforms and SDKs. Microsoft has integrated MCP support into Copilot and Windows 11, while Google’s Gemini API and SDK now natively support MCP. OpenAI’s Agents SDK also supports MCP, with Zapier serving as an official launch partner, enabling the OpenAI Responses API to perform tens of thousands of third-party actions across more than 8,000 connected apps. Anthropic, the developer behind the Claude AI models, has incorporated MCP into Claude 3.7 Sonnet and the newly launched Claude 4, allowing these models to execute real-world actions such as sending Slack messages, updating CRM records, and editing Google Sheets without custom coding. Anthropic’s Claude 4 is now available natively on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, enabling enterprises to build, evaluate, and govern Claude-powered agents securely using their own data. The collaborative and open approach by Anthropic has been credited with helping MCP gain traction as a de facto standard for AI interoperability. Additional developments include the launch of the first MCP server that allows Claude to rent GPUs on Hyperbolic Labs for AI workloads, further expanding the protocol’s ecosystem and utility.
I really have to congratulate the Anthropic team on a fantastic release. It’s not just Claude 4, but the taste shown in API design and the preference for more Unix-y composable building blocks makes me very excited to continue building with them. Plus, they’re just really great
We just launched the first MCP server allowing Claude by @AnthropicAI to rent GPUs on @hyperbolic_labs and run AI workloads! https://t.co/Op5gLeEjQ2
Big update from Anthropic today! 🔥 Claude can now take real-world actions through @Zapier's MCP. 8,000+ apps, directly accessible via Claude, no custom code needed. Want to try it? → Spin up a Zapier MCP server → Add actions as tools for Claude → Run them via the Messages https://t.co/z0Adw7yn3V
