Google has opened its Veo 3 artificial-intelligence video generator to all Gemini app users for a limited promotion running from Friday night through Sunday, Aug. 24, at 10 p.m. Pacific time. During the trial, anyone can create up to three short clips at no cost, a capability previously reserved for paying Google AI Pro or Ultra subscribers. The company’s experimental window coincides with a broader update to its generative-AI services. GoogleAI said Veo 3 has already produced more than 100 million videos, and Ultra-tier customers are seeing their monthly AI credit allotments doubled. Google officials described the free weekend as a chance for prospective users to test the model’s speed and quality before committing to a subscription. Developed by Google DeepMind, Veo 3 generates eight-second, 720p videos complete with audio and supports a ‘Fast’ mode that renders results roughly twice as quickly as earlier iterations. The promotion underscores escalating competition among tech giants to draw consumers to AI-powered creative tools by lowering barriers to entry, if only temporarily.
