Meta is preparing to launch a new generation of smart glasses named "Meta Celeste," expected in October 2025. The device features a heads-up display integrated into the right lens and is controlled via a neural wristband, allowing for gesture-based inputs. Internally codenamed "Hypernova," the glasses incorporate advanced technology including five cameras, seven microphones, motion sensors, and a Qualcomm processor within a lightweight 75-gram frame. These features enable the capture of synchronized video, depth maps, eye gaze, hand motion, sound, location, and heart rate data for up to eight hours. The launch follows Meta's ongoing investments in virtual and augmented reality, including the acquisition of nine leading VR studios since 2019 and developments in social VR environments for the Quest platform.
