Apple Inc. is preparing the first hardware refresh of its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset and could introduce the upgraded model as soon as late 2025, Bloomberg reports. The revision will replace the existing M2 processor with Apple’s newer M4 chip—promising faster CPU and graphics performance and an expanded Neural Engine for artificial-intelligence tasks—and will ship with a redesigned head strap aimed at reducing neck strain. Other specifications and the $3,499 price tag are expected to remain largely unchanged. Separately, the company is developing a lighter, fully redesigned Vision Pro successor for 2027, according to people familiar with the roadmap. The longer-term effort is intended to broaden the product’s appeal and lower production costs. The current Vision Pro, introduced in early 2024 and weighing about 1.4 pounds, has faced criticism over comfort and delivered only modest sales in the hundreds of thousands of units. The interim upgrade is designed to keep Apple’s spatial-computing platform competitive while it works toward slimmer and less expensive hardware.
