Argentine former world boxing champion Alejandra “Locomotora” Oliveras, 47, was admitted on Monday morning to the José María Cullen Hospital in the city of Santa Fe after suffering an ischemic stroke, the hospital’s medical director Bruno Moroni said at a press briefing. Moroni reported that Oliveras arrived with a “syndrome confusional” and a loss of mobility on the left side of her body. She was transferred to the intensive-care unit and remains in stable condition, although her prognosis is described as reserved while doctors monitor her response to treatment over the next 48 hours. The health emergency sidelines Oliveras from the provincial constitutional convention that opened this week, where she had been elected as a delegate for the Frente de la Esperanza bloc. Her future participation will depend on her neurological recovery, hospital officials said.
