Two children died following a collision between a sailboat and a barge near Hibiscus Island in Miami Beach. The incident occurred during a sailing camp in Biscayne Bay, where a group including five children and an adult were rescued from the water. The two fatalities, both minors, were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where they were pronounced dead. One of the deceased was identified as Mila Yankelevich, the seven-year-old granddaughter of Argentine television producer Cris Morena. The other victim was a 13-year-old Chilean girl who had moved to the United States the previous year. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including whether the barge operator was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Multiple agencies, including the City of Miami and the Coast Guard, responded to the rescue and investigation efforts.
