A 20-year-old South African crew member, described as the "golden girl," was found dead on a luxury superyacht moored off Harbour Island in the Bahamas, part of the Eleuthera island chain, on July 3, 2025. The yacht, valued at £9.5 million and reportedly costing £100,000 per week to operate, is docked in an area known as the "Billionaires Backyard." Royal Bahamas police have accused the yacht's engineer of slashing the young crew member's throat and potentially sexually assaulting her prior to her death. The victim was discovered unresponsive in the yacht's engine room days before her 21st birthday.
