BMW is intensifying its competition with Tesla by launching a new line of electric vehicles (EVs) featuring extended range and advanced software capabilities. The upcoming all-electric BMW iX3 SUV is expected to have an EPA range exceeding 400 miles and supports charging speeds up to 400 kW, enabling approximately 200 miles of range to be added in just 10 minutes. The vehicle will also incorporate a new "superbrain" system with 20 times the computing power of BMW's previous technology and a redesigned panoramic cockpit. BMW's CEO, Oliver Zipse, described these EVs as setting a new industry benchmark. The German automaker plans to introduce around 40 new or significantly updated models globally by the end of 2027, including 19 combustion engine vehicles and 17 battery-electric models, all based on the Neue Klasse technology platform. This platform features sixth-generation batteries that improve energy density and charging speed, advancing BMW's commitment to sustainable transportation. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz announced plans to release 15 new EVs over the next two years, marking the largest product launch in its history.
