Hyundai Motor Group said it will invest $26 billion in the United States through 2028, expanding an earlier commitment as the South Korean automaker deepens its manufacturing presence in its largest foreign market. The package includes funds to raise output of Hyundai, Genesis and Kia vehicles and to broaden the company’s U.S. steel and electric-vehicle supply chains. A centerpiece of the plan is a state-of-the-art robotics facility that will be able to assemble about 30,000 units a year, marking Hyundai’s first large-scale robotics production site outside Korea. The latest announcement increases the conglomerate’s pledged U.S. spending by roughly $5 billion. It comes as South Korea’s president meets with President Donald Trump in Washington, underscoring the strategic importance both governments place on automotive and advanced-manufacturing investment.
