Musk Targets Year-End Rollout of Unsupervised Tesla FSD in U.S. Cities

Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said on Wednesday that an unsupervised version of the company’s Full Self-Driving software should be available for personal vehicles in several U.S. cities by the end of 2025. Musk noted that the company is being “paranoid” about safety and will prioritize it over any other consideration during the rollout. Tesla’s current FSD system requires drivers to remain ready to take control; an unsupervised version would substantially raise the system’s automation level and regulatory scrutiny. The schedule, if met, would mark the first consumer deployment of a fully autonomous feature from Tesla and could accelerate demand for the automaker’s latest Hardware 4 computer, which underpins the most recent driver-assist functions.
