Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said the company is training a substantially larger version of its Full Self-Driving software, featuring roughly ten times the number of AI parameters and major improvements to video compression. Musk indicated the upgraded system could be released to the public by the end of next month, subject to successful testing. A late-September rollout would mark the latest step in Tesla’s effort to move from advanced driver assistance toward full vehicle autonomy. FSD is currently a driver-assistance option that still requires human oversight. The larger model is intended to enhance the cars’ ability to interpret surroundings, a capability central to Musk’s long-term strategy as Tesla faces slowing vehicle sales and intensifying competition. Tesla shares have fallen about 23.5% since the start of the year.
