Tesla has signed a $16.5 billion multiyear contract with Samsung to manufacture its next-generation AI6 chips at Samsung's upcoming semiconductor plant in Texas. The agreement, confirmed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, spans from 2025 to 2034 and aims to support Tesla's advancements in autonomous driving, robotics, and AI data centers. These AI6 chips will power Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system, Optimus robots, and the Dojo supercomputer. The deal is viewed as strategically vital by Musk and provides a boost to Samsung’s semiconductor foundry business, which had been struggling and was largely written off by investors. The partnership is expected to strengthen Tesla’s supply chains, reduce delays, and enhance its AI capabilities across vehicles, robots, and data centers.
