Belarus temporarily disconnected Unit 2 of its only nuclear power plant after an alarm signaled a deviation in the cooling system of the facility’s non-nuclear section, the Energy Ministry said on 17 July. The ministry emphasised that the incident poses no threat to the safe operation of the plant; radiation levels at the site and in the surrounding monitoring zone remain normal. Engineers are inspecting the equipment before the unit is reconnected to the grid.
