Russian President Vladimir Putin phoned Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on 17 August to brief him on the outcome of recent Russia-U.S. discussions concerning Alaska, Lukashenko’s press service said. State news agency RIA confirmed the call, adding that the leaders also talked about the regional situation in light of Putin’s earlier meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump. Kazakh news outlet Kazinform reported that Putin delivered a similar update to Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
