Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Monday with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Kremlin said. Pashinyan briefed Putin on his joint meeting last week in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, where the three leaders signed a declaration expressing readiness to reach a final peace settlement after more than 30 years of intermittent conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the Kremlin readout, the two leaders discussed the ongoing Armenia-Azerbaijan normalisation process, including plans to reopen regional transport links and other confidence-building steps envisioned in the 2020–2022 trilateral agreements brokered by Moscow. Putin reiterated that Russia remains prepared to assist the parties in implementing those accords. Putin also informed Pashinyan of his recent talks with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and of preparations for his own meeting with President Trump, scheduled to take place in Alaska later this week. The leaders agreed to maintain close contact as diplomatic efforts advance on multiple fronts.
