Ethereum Foundation Co-Executive Director Tomasz Stańczak has warned that the network’s next major software release, the Fusaka upgrade, is in danger of missing its fourth-quarter 2025 target because developers are devoting excessive time to planning the subsequent Glamsterdam hard fork slated for 2026. In an 8 August update, Stańczak urged project coordinators to pause Glamsterdam discussions and re-allocate resources toward Fusaka, which has already entered testnet. He said meeting the near-term deadline is essential to preserve Ethereum’s broader roadmap and maintain credibility on delivery schedules. “No amount of talking about Ethereum’s vision matters if we cannot meet goals on schedule,” he wrote. Fusaka bundles several Ethereum Improvement Proposals, including Peer Data Availability Sampling to enhance data distribution, tweaks to the transaction gas limit and adjustments to blob parameters—changes intended to boost scalability and network performance. Stańczak added that engineering teams are already addressing outstanding issues but need “broad agreement that timelines matter” to avoid slippage.
Everybody wants fusaka to launch asap Yet we must be vigilant to never take for granted eth's reputation for perfect reliability A disaster during this pivotal era could reduce the long term ETH valuation by multiple trillions Ambition and patience https://t.co/zb4mvF2Mat
As calls for fusaka to ship this year intensify - knowing that this may or may not be realistic - imo it's important for us to remember that eth's value proposition depends not just on zero downtime but also on credible neutrality and risk minimization for users.
