The government warning covers Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, where such bots can be built with Meta’s generative-AI tool, AI Studio. The AGU cited a “proliferation” of the bots and a “concrete risk to the psychological integrity of children,” arguing the material violates Meta’s own Community Standards and Article 227 of Brazil’s Constitution, which guarantees minors full protection. While the notice carries no monetary penalty, it reminds the company that a Supreme Court ruling in June makes platforms liable if they fail to remove illicit content once notified. The demand comes amid broader political pressure to police online child exploitation. On the same day, the Chamber of Deputies approved fast-track consideration of a bill that targets the “adultization” of minors on social media, and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has sent two separate measures to Congress imposing stricter duties on large technology platforms. Public concern has intensified since the 15 August arrest of influencer Hytalo Santos for alleged sexual exploitation of adolescents on Instagram.
