The Brazilian government commenced the second phase of payments for the FGTS (Fundo de Garantia de Tempo de Serviço) birthday withdrawal scheme on June 17, 2025. This phase involves releasing approximately R$6 billion to around 8.1 million workers who opted for the birthday withdrawal model between January 2020 and February 2025 and were dismissed without just cause. Eligible workers with balances exceeding R$3,000 from deposits by previous employers began receiving these funds. The Caixa Econômica Federal completed this second phase of payments by June 20, targeting workers born in the last four months of the year. Subsequently, on July 9, 2025, Caixa announced a price increase for bets on the Mega-Sena and other lottery games. The new prices took effect on that date, with the Mega-Sena ticket price rising to R$6, Lotofácil to R$3.50, and Quina to R$3. The price adjustments aim to maintain the sustainability of the lottery modalities and increase prize values. Additionally, a regulation that allowed FGTS access to dismissed workers under the birthday withdrawal scheme expired on July 8, 2025.
