Brazil’s TV Globo has regained exclusive broadcast rights for Formula 1 from the 2026 season under a deal that runs through 2028, ending a five-year spell in which rival network Band held the property. The agreement with Liberty Media covers free-to-air, pay-TV and digital platforms, reinstating Globo as the sport’s primary Brazilian outlet after it previously carried the championship for nearly four decades until 2020. Under the new contract Globo will air 15 of the calendar’s 24 Grands Prix live on its main terrestrial channel, while all races, qualifying sessions, practice runs and sprint events will be shown in full on the company’s pay-TV arm SporTV and streamed on Globoplay. The network said its sports crews will be on site at every event. The return coincides with a landmark 2026 Formula 1 season that introduces new power-unit regulations, 100% sustainable fuel and the entry of Audi and Cadillac as factory teams. Brazilian interest is expected to be bolstered by rookie Gabriel Bortoleto’s confirmed seat at Audi and the possibility of compatriot Felipe Drugovich joining the grid with Cadillac.
