Brazil’s TV Globo has cancelled “The Masked Singer Brasil” after five seasons and will not renew its licensing agreement with Endemol Shine Brasil, the network confirmed on 4 July. The musical-reality format, adapted from South Korea’s “King of Mask Singer,” had been part of Globo’s Sunday afternoon line-up since 2021. Audience erosion weighed on the decision. The fifth season, which ran from January to March, averaged 9.7 rating points in Greater São Paulo, according to Kantar Ibope figures—an 11.8% drop from the previous year and about 15% below the show’s early-series peak. Globo is developing a new programme to occupy the slot in early 2026. Singer Ivete Sangalo hosted the first four seasons, while presenter Eliana fronted the final edition that featured costumes inspired by iconic Globo telenovela characters to mark the broadcaster’s 60th anniversary. Globo said Eliana will return to air with a yet-to-be-detailed weekend show in 2026.
