Brazil’s Palmeiras has signed Paraguayan forward Ramón Sosa from Nottingham Forest for about €12 million (roughly R$90 million). The 25-year-old agreed a five-year deal that runs until June 2030, the São Paulo club said on Wednesday. Sosa struggled for minutes in the Premier League, making 19 appearances—only one as a starter—and scoring three goals with one assist last season. He had drawn interest from Palmeiras after a productive 2023 campaign with Argentina’s Talleres, where he registered 17 goals and 12 assists. The move addresses gaps in coach Abel Ferreira’s attack following the sale of teenage winger Estêvão to Chelsea and a long-term knee injury to Paulinho. Sosa joins compatriot and club captain Gustavo Gómez and is expected to be available immediately for domestic and continental fixtures. With the deal, Palmeiras’ outlay on transfers in 2025 rises to about R$536 million, including earlier purchases such as Vitor Roque, Paulinho, Facundo Torres and Emiliano Martínez. The reigning Brazilian champions are contesting the Campeonato Brasileiro, the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Libertadores.
