PF and STF Investigate Government Leader José Guimarães Over 12% Bribe on Amendments; Deputies and Ex-Mayor Also Mentioned

The Federal Police (PF) investigation has uncovered allegations of a 12% 'toll' or bribe charged for the release of parliamentary amendments linked to the government leader in the Chamber of Deputies, José Guimarães. The inquiry, ordered by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Gilmar Mendes, is confidential and targets Guimarães in relation to the diversion of amendment funds. Additional names mentioned in the investigation include deputies Eunício Oliveira and Yuri do Paredão, both from MDB-CE, who have denied the accusations. A former mayor reported a 10% charge on amendments associated with Guimarães, and also implicated Ilomar, a PT vice, who allegedly secured two amendments from Guimarães's office and insisted on receiving 10% of each amendment's value as a return. The PF has requested further investigation into the funds indicated by the government leader, reflecting ongoing scrutiny of embezzlement in parliamentary amendments under President Lula's administration.
