Rodrigo Júnior Ponce, a 35-year-old businessman and owner of a trucking and earthmoving company in Guarulhos, was fatally shot inside his red Porsche in Guarulhos, São Paulo, on July 5, 2025. The incident occurred in the afternoon when Ponce was approached by assailants on motorcycles. Police suspect the motive to be robbery, although the Porsche was not stolen; only a firearm carried by Ponce was taken. Authorities are investigating the case as a homicide. Separately, in São Paulo's southern zone, a police officer mistakenly shot and killed a 26-year-old man named Guilherme Dias Santos Ferreira, who was uninvolved in a nearby attempted robbery. Ferreira had just left work and was carrying a book and a lunchbox when the off-duty officer responded to the crime. The police have confirmed the shooting was accidental.
