Uber Technologies has appointed Andrew Macdonald, known as 'Mac', as its chief operating officer, filling the role for the first time since 2019. Macdonald, who joined Uber in 2012 as its first general manager in Toronto and previously led the mobility unit, will oversee both the mobility and delivery businesses, as well as cross-platform initiatives including advertising, customer support, and autonomous vehicles strategy. The executive changes coincide with the departure of Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, Uber's senior vice president of delivery, who is leaving after nearly 13 years at the company. Gore-Coty led Uber Eats and other delivery offerings, guiding the division through the pandemic. As part of the restructuring, Pradeep Parameswaran has been named global head of mobility, Susan Anderson as global head of delivery, and Sarfraz Maredia as global head of autonomous mobility and delivery. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, in a memo to employees, stated that he has no plans to leave the company and that consolidating leadership under Macdonald is intended to accelerate customer engagement across Uber's core services. Macdonald will relocate to New York from Toronto in September. The leadership changes take effect immediately.
