The Competition Bureau of Canada is ramping up enforcement with tougher merger controls, higher penalties, and more challenges for corporations. Competition Commissioner Matthew Boswell has urged lawyers to 'buckle up' for significant and 'long overdue' changes to the Competition Act. The Bureau is also seeking public input on real estate commissions and the policies of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), and has obtained a court order to investigate whether CREA's policies stifle innovation and competition from smaller entities.
