On August 16, 2025, the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) organized a large arms embargo protest at the intersection of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, drawing participation from over 70 groups, including members of Neturei Karta and the Communist Revolutionary Party. The demonstration featured hundreds to thousands of protesters who occupied the intersection and marched along a disclosed route. Toronto police deployed public order units and mounted officers to manage the crowd, using bicycles as barricades and maintaining a significant presence with marked and unmarked vehicles. Protesters called for a total arms embargo against Israel. The event also saw participation from groups such as Jews Say No to Genocide and individuals including Canadian Anti-Hate Network board member Nigel Barriffe and his wife Anna Zalik. Following the protest, dozens of Ontario Provincial Police officers were stationed outside the Israeli consulate. The demonstrations continued with activists protesting at the personal residence of Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, after the closure of her constituency office. The protests have drawn commentary comparing the tactics to those of the FLQ terrorists in Quebec, raising concerns about rising antisemitic violence in Canadian cities including Montreal and Toronto.
