A large demonstration took place in Mexico City on August 17, 2025, as part of a Mega March for Palestine. The protest began at the Ángel de la Independencia and proceeded along Avenida Juárez toward the Mexican Chamber of Deputies. Participants demanded an end to Israel's military offensive in Gaza and called for Mexico to sever diplomatic relations with Israel. Concurrently, human rights groups installed an "antimonument" called the "Puerta a la Vida" in front of the Hemiciclo a Juárez and the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs, symbolizing solidarity with Palestine and condemning the violence in Gaza. The event also included a cultural session featuring a poem by Mahmud Darwish, read by editor and poet Hermann Bellinghausen. Separately, reports emerged of an individual defacing a war memorial in Amsterdam with red paint during an anti-Israel protest.
