Gaia Costa, a 24-year-old woman, was fatally struck by an SUV while crossing a pedestrian crosswalk in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. The driver of the vehicle was Vivian Alexandra Spohr, a 51-year-old German manager and wife of Carsten Spohr, the CEO of Lufthansa. Following the accident, Vivian Spohr returned to Germany and is currently under investigation by Italian authorities for negligent homicide. Her lawyers have stated that she is fully cooperating with the judicial process. The incident occurred on a Tuesday, and an autopsy for Gaia Costa is scheduled for July 16. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The case has drawn attention due to the involvement of the Lufthansa CEO’s wife and the tragic loss of a young woman who was reportedly a babysitter on vacation.
