Country singer LeAnn Rimes has revisited the fallout from her 2008–09 affair with actor Eddie Cibrian, telling wellness platform Flow Space that the episode turned her into “a target” for women who had experienced infidelity. Rimes, now 42, said she quickly recognised “a lot of women don’t know what to do with that anger,” and learned to separate public outrage from the personal accountability she feels for the incident. Rimes and Cibrian met while filming the Lifetime movie “Northern Lights” and pursued a relationship while each was still married—she to dancer Dean Sheremet, he to model and reality-TV personality Brandi Glanville. The pair divorced their spouses, married in April 2011 and have since raised Cibrian’s sons Mason, 22, and Jake, 18, in a blended family that now includes Glanville at shared events. Reflecting on the years since the scandal, Rimes said she has moved “from survival to thriving,” crediting therapy and maturity for helping her shed the burden of public expectations. The Grammy winner, who rose to fame at 13, added that confronting the controversy was a matter of “complete survival” and that she no longer feels the need to hide. Rimes will next appear in the forthcoming drama series “911: Nashville,” slated for release this fall.
