The 2025 World Robot Conference (WRC) took place in Beijing from August 8 to 12, showcasing rapid advancements in embodied intelligent robotics with a focus on cognition, decision-making, and safety. The event gathered 220 domestic and international companies, including 60 core component firms, presenting 1,569 products and securing financing of 1.481 billion yuan ($206 million). Demonstrations highlighted robots performing diverse real-world tasks such as dancing, medical assistance, box moving, companionship, playing soccer, drumming, coffee making, and emergency rescue. UBTECH Robotics unveiled the Walker S2, the world’s first humanoid robot capable of autonomous battery swapping in three minutes, enabling continuous 24/7 operation. The conference also emphasized the integration of humanoid robots into industrial, commercial, and household applications, with swarm intelligence technology showcased for multi-task industrial scenarios. Following the WRC, the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games (WHRG) opened on August 14 at Beijing’s National Speed Skating Oval, featuring over 500 humanoid robots from 280 teams across 16 countries competing in 487 matches across 26 disciplines, including the world’s first fully autonomous 5v5 humanoid robot soccer matches. The opening ceremony combined traditional Chinese arts with robotic technology in performances such as "Zhi Yun He Ming" and "Soul of Qin Warriors," highlighting the cultural integration of robotics. The WHRG represents the first Olympic-style sports event with humanoid robots as main participants, drawing global attention to China’s growing leadership in robotics innovation and market potential.
