Three months ago, @AMD said it was taking $800 million in writedowns related to the Chinese export restrictions. CEO @LisaSu tells @carolinehydetv and @edludlow that they now have "a number of licenses under review" and are optimistic about growth https://t.co/zRTpujh3Ur https://t.co/RQNM5LRxL6
Advanced Micro Devices Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su said the chipmaker is seeing stronger-than-expected demand across its data-center, personal-computer and gaming lines and now anticipates a firmer second half than previously forecast. Su added that AMD has “a number of licenses under review” with US authorities that would allow the company to resume shipments to China. She said the applications are moving through the approval process and that AMD plans to restart supply chains to the country once the permits are granted. The comments mark a turnaround from three months ago, when AMD booked about $800 million in writedowns tied to tightened US export controls on advanced semiconductors bound for China. Su said progress on licensing and broad-based demand give the company confidence in its growth outlook.
