The China Coast Guard (CCG) confirmed that on July 9, a Japanese fishing vessel named Ruiho Maru illegally entered China's territorial waters near Chiwei Yu, part of the Diaoyu Islands. In response, CCG vessels took necessary control measures and expelled the vessel in accordance with Chinese law. The Chinese authorities reiterated that the Diaoyu Islands and their affiliated islets are inherent Chinese territory and urged Japan to cease all illegal activities in the area. Meanwhile, two CCG ships remained within the territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands, prompting continued warnings and surveillance by the Japanese Coast Guard. Separately, Chiba Prefecture has initiated the removal of 17 illegally moored vessels and other debris, with costs estimated at approximately 73 million yen, funded by taxpayers. Only two of the vessel owners have been identified so far. The area has been described as a "ship graveyard" due to numerous sunken vessels, complicating the removal efforts.
