China has released the first volume of “Selected Works of Xi Jinping on Ecological Civilization,” offering the most comprehensive compilation to date of the Chinese leader’s thinking on environmental policy. The book, edited by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and published by the Central Party Literature Press, is now available nationwide. The volume contains 79 speeches, articles and directives issued between December 2012 and April 2025, several of which appear in print for the first time. Party authorities describe the collection as an authoritative text for studying Xi’s concept that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” a cornerstone of Beijing’s drive to pair economic growth with environmental stewardship. Its publication is intended to guide officials and the public in advancing high-quality development and building a “Beautiful China.”
