China is accelerating its development and deployment of humanoid robots, with the company NOETIX shipping 105 units in July 2025 alone. This surge in robotics innovation is underscored by the upcoming 2025 World Robot Conference in Beijing, which will feature over 1,500 exhibits and approximately 50 humanoid robots, nearly double the number from the previous year. China leads the global industrial robotics market, accounting for 276,288 installations in 2023, representing 51% of worldwide installations, far surpassing other countries such as Japan, the US, South Korea, and Germany. Additionally, the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games will be held in Beijing from August 14 to 17, with humanoid robots participating in activities including soccer matches and group dance competitions. Eight university teams from northern China have been selected for the dance category. This event aims to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence and robotics through sport. In parallel developments, new robotic technologies are emerging, including UNC’s 'Fetch' robot, which has begun autonomously sorting samples and writing protocols, and OpenMind’s introduction of an open-source Android-like operating system for robots. Marketing applications of robots are also evolving, exemplified by Coco delivery robots that communicate and dress up in promotional attire for Prime Video.
