China's passenger vehicle market showed mixed trends in July 2025, with retail passenger vehicle sales rising 6.3% year-over-year to approximately 1.83 million units, marking a new record for the month. However, sales declined 12.4% month-over-month, reflecting a typical midsummer slowdown. Exports also contributed to the sector's growth, with July vehicle exports reaching 575,000 units, a 22.6% increase year-over-year, driven largely by NEVs. Total passenger car exports topped 6 million units over the past 12 months. Year-to-date sales from January to July climbed 12%, with new energy vehicle sales up 38.5% year-over-year, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). The overall auto market growth eased in July but continued to set new production, sales, and export records for the third consecutive month.
