Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said he "would love to buy a Xiaomi car," praising the rapid development of China’s electric-vehicle sector during remarks on 16 July. Huang added that Nvidia works "very closely" with Xiaomi on multiple projects and called the country’s progress in electric vehicles over the past five years "probably the most surprising to the world." Huang’s comments signal Nvidia’s continuing interest in deepening ties with Chinese technology companies even as trade tensions persist. The Santa Clara–based chipmaker supplies advanced processors and software used in driver-assistance and autonomous-driving systems, while Beijing-headquartered Xiaomi began delivering its first electric sedan earlier this year as it expands beyond smartphones.
