Chinese President Xi Jinping left Xizang on Thursday after spending several days in the autonomous region to take part in events marking the 60th anniversary of its founding. Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, was seen off by crowds lining the streets and at the airport, according to state media. Before departing, Xi instructed a central delegation led by Politburo Standing Committee member Wang Huning to remain in Xizang from Thursday to Saturday to convey greetings to residents across ethnic and social groups. Senior official Cai Qi travelled back to Beijing with Xi on the same flight, Xinhua said.
