Southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region has experienced substantial economic and infrastructural development over the past six decades. In 2024, the region's GDP reached approximately 276.5 billion yuan, representing a 155-fold increase compared to 1965 when adjusted for constant prices, with an average annual growth rate of 8.9 percent. Projections indicate that the regional GDP will surpass 300 billion yuan (about 42 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025. Planned investments in the region have exceeded 400 billion yuan. Infrastructure improvements include a total road length of 124,900 kilometers and a power supply where more than 99 percent of electricity is generated from clean energy sources. These developments have contributed to improved livelihoods and modernization within Xizang, according to statements from Wang Junzheng, Party chief of Xizang, and information released at recent press conferences in Beijing.
