The investigations focus on alleged irregularities in the processing and distribution of Colombian passports. Authorities suggest that Murillo and Sarabia may have violated principles of planning and responsibility, while Saade is accused of potential overstepping of his authority in the matter. These officials are noted to be close associates of President Gustavo Petro. Additionally, the Procuraduría has opened a separate investigation into Luis Carlos Reyes, the former director of the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN), regarding alleged failures in projecting and monitoring tax collection targets.
