Perplexity AI has introduced “Perplexity Max”, a $200-a-month subscription tier aimed at power users who want unrestricted access to the startup’s most advanced features. Max members receive unlimited usage of Labs—Perplexity’s spreadsheet and report-generation workspace—along with early access to the company’s forthcoming Comet AI browser and priority use of frontier language models such as OpenAI’s o3-pro and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4. The new tier sits above Perplexity’s existing $20 consumer Pro plan and its $40-a-month Enterprise Pro offer, expanding the company’s menu at a time when rivals including OpenAI and Google have rolled out similar hyper-premium options. Perplexity says it will add an enterprise version of Max later. Perplexity generated roughly $34 million in revenue last year and reported annual recurring revenue of about $80 million in January. The San Francisco-based startup, backed by Nvidia and Jeff Bezos, has been in talks to raise about $500 million at a valuation near $14 billion, and higher-margin subscriptions such as Max are expected to help offset heavy cloud-computing costs.
