San Bernardino County homicide detectives arrested Jake Haro, 32, and his wife, Rebecca Haro, 41, at their home in Cabazon, California, on 22 Aug 2025 and booked them on PC 187 murder charges in the disappearance of their seven-month-old son, Emmanuel. Both are being held in Riverside County without bail, the sheriff’s office said. The couple had reported the infant missing on 14 Aug, claiming he was kidnapped outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods store in Yucaipa after an assailant knocked the mother unconscious. Investigators executed multiple search warrants, reviewed digital evidence and used cadaver dogs around the family residence, ultimately determining that no abduction occurred and that Emmanuel is presumed dead. A search for the child’s remains is ongoing. Authorities noted inconsistencies in Rebecca Haro’s account and said the parents stopped cooperating during interviews. Court records show Jake Haro served six months in jail in 2023 for willful child cruelty stemming from an earlier case. Detectives urged anyone with information to contact the department’s Specialized Investigations Division.
