Federal authorities have arrested Scott McGinley, a 55-year-old librarian for Williams and Glenbrook Middle Schools in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, on one count of distributing child sexual abuse material. McGinley was taken into custody on 13 August after an FBI undercover investigator engaged with him in an encrypted chat group called “Little boyz only,” where he allegedly shared illicit images and stated a sexual preference for boys aged two to twelve. A court-authorized search of McGinley’s Holyoke residence on 8 August recovered more than 100 files depicting child sexual abuse, along with two iPhones, an Apple Watch, a tablet, two laptops and a locked Pelican case. Investigators said the case contained children’s clothing, a Santa costume, diapers, diaper cream, apple-sauce packets and boys’ underwear. Prosecutors also allege McGinley wrote that he strategically seated “hot boys” in his school library to look under their desks, though he claimed he had not touched students. McGinley is scheduled to make an initial appearance in federal court in Boston on Wednesday afternoon. Longmeadow Public Schools said it is cooperating fully with law-enforcement agencies and emphasized that student safety remains its top priority.
