Sean Diddy Combs on Monday lost his bid to be released from jail ahead of his October 3 sentencing, despite a jury having found the hip-hop mogul not guilty of the most serious charges at his sex crimes trial. https://t.co/SzNzf4CGQ6
A federal judge on Monday rejected Sean “Diddy” Combs’ renewed attempt to leave jail before his 3 October sentencing, ruling that the hip-hop mogul failed to show he would neither flee nor pose a danger to the public. Combs had offered a US$50 million bond and said he was willing to submit to house arrest at his Miami residence, electronic monitoring and other restrictions. In a written opinion, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian said those conditions could not overcome evidence of “violence, coercion or subjugation” presented at trial, adding that the record did not reveal the “exceptional circumstances” required for release after conviction. A jury on 2 July acquitted the Bad Boy Records founder of racketeering and sex-trafficking counts but found him guilty on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. Each count carries a potential 10-year sentence, although prosecutors and defense lawyers agree advisory guidelines point to a term of roughly five years. Combs, 55, has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024. Monday’s decision means he will remain in custody until the October hearing, when Judge Subramanian will determine his punishment.
