Woman charged after investigation into death of 4-month-old baby in Camden, New Jersey https://t.co/0MMOkEQnqE
A Philadelphia resident, Ebony Gee, 43, has been charged with second-degree desecration of human remains and second-degree witness tampering after the body of a four-month-old baby in her care was found inside a trash bag that had been placed in a bassinet at a Camden, New Jersey, apartment, authorities said. Police were called to the home on the 1200 block of Lakeshore Drive on 19 May after a witness discovered the infant’s decomposed body in an upstairs bedroom. The witness told investigators Gee had barred anyone from entering the room and later received threatening text messages from her on the day the remains were found. Medical examiners could not determine the cause of death because of decomposition. DNA testing confirmed the child’s identity on 10 July, and detectives subsequently interviewed the infant’s parents, who said Gee had been caring for their child since mid-April. U.S. Marshals arrested Gee in Philadelphia on 11 July. She is being held at Riverside Correctional Facility while awaiting extradition to New Jersey. Investigators have asked anyone with information to contact the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
