In Washington, the state Supreme Court commissioner, Commissioner Johnston, upheld the ban on high-capacity magazines, capable of holding more than 10 bullets, while the state appeals a lower-court decision from Cowlitz County that deemed the ban unconstitutional. Meanwhile, in California, the Ninth Circuit granted a motion to stay a district court judgment that had struck down the state's 'one-gun-a-month' law, allowing the law to remain in effect as the appeal process is expedited.
