A dispute over assigned seating on an American Airlines flight has drawn widespread attention after a 20-second video posted on 6 July went viral across social-media platforms. The clip shows passenger Osaac Summer confronting a family that placed their daughter in his $300 aisle seat without first asking his permission. Summer, who later identified himself in a follow-up video, said he deliberately booked the aisle because, at 6 foot 2, he needs additional legroom. In the original footage he is heard telling the parents, “I don’t care about your daughter,” while insisting on reclaiming the seat he had purchased. He added that he would have considered moving had the family requested the swap in advance. According to Summer, a flight attendant initially declined to assist but another traveller eventually offered a different seat to the child, allowing him to return to his original spot. The episode has reignited debate over in-flight etiquette and the responsibilities of cabin crew when passengers occupy seats they have not paid for.
