Tether's USDT stablecoin accounts for approximately 40% of all blockchain transaction fees across nine major blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Tron, TON, Solana, Binance Smart Chain (BSC), Avalanche, Arbitrum, Polygon, and Optimism. This data was highlighted by Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, who emphasized the widespread use of USDT by hundreds of millions of people in emerging markets as a digital dollar to protect against local currency volatility. The dominance of USDT in blockchain fees underscores its significant role in the decentralized finance ecosystem. Additionally, Ethereum-based applications have generated around $26.8 billion in user-paid fees since launch, with Tether, Uniswap, and Circle identified as the top contributors to Ethereum's economic activity.
